From finding the perfect engagement ring to actually popping the question, proposing to the one you love can be tough. At DeScenza Diamonds, we believe it doesn't have to be! We are sharing everything we have learned in 103 years of helping Massachusetts say "I do" in our #broblog series to help you put a ring on it without ever breaking a sweat.

It’s hard to make a proposal stand out and be truly unique these days. If your fiancée-to-be loves wedding reality shows and has friends who have recently tied the knot, chances are she is expecting a proposal that is destined for Instagram and Pinterest. If you don’t have the time or organizational skills to create a personalized scavenger hunt or coordinate a dance number, you might be looking for simpler ways to make a classic proposal stand out. Here are some simple ways to elevate your proposal to the next level.

Lighting up the sky after you pop the question is a great way to surprise and impress your bride to be. Modern pyrotechnics can create letters and hearts in the sky, making the display more personal. If you can’t afford a full, professional light show, get some simple Chinese lanterns you can set off together after you propose. It will be a calm, private moment that you can both reflect on in the coming months while you’re caught up in the craziness of wedding planning.

Social Media Filter or Frame

If your wife-to-be is a selfie queen, a gift that makes it easy to celebrate with all her online friends and followers might be the perfect complement to the engagement ring. Customized Snapchat filters celebrating your engagement can be available for anyone in the immediate area to use, so friends and family can share videos and photos of the moment you popped the question. These must be approved by Snapchat before you can use them, so you’ll need to plan this one a few weeks ahead of time to pull it off. If you don’t have time for that, creating a simple frame for online photos is easy to do and free through sites like PicMonkey and Canva.

Instagram Backdrop or Announcement Sign

A sign that says “She Said Yes!” or “Officially Engaged” makes for a great announcement photo you can both share to your social media. If you want an even bigger effect, you can rent or build a floral wall or another kind of backdrop. But this does not have to be a literal fabric backdrop. It can be an area you create with beautiful balloons and floral accents, or an area with a spectacular view that will make for better pictures.

Live Music

You don’t have to book a skilled musician to make your proposal extra-touching. Your favorite local band, the group that played at the bar you went to on your first date, or friends and family members from your church that enjoy singing can all make the moment magical.
